I was reeeeallly hoping that my little sister would send a picture of my nephew in his new pumpkin hat and today I got my wish!
Doesn’t this little cutie just make your whole November?! (It’s okay if not. I used to get annoyed by people who gushed over tiny babies but now I totally get it.)
Pattern: Berry Baby Hat by Michele Sabatier
Needles: Size 7 DPN
Yarn: For the orange I alternated every other row between worsted acrylic in neon orange and a weird rusty orange- both thrifty finds. I like the effect it gives. Acrylic can look very flat and factoried (not a real word) but the alternating gave some dimension. For green I used I Love This Yarn (and I do!) in Key Lime.
Notes: Sadly, I didn’t have this little guy close by to take measurements. I would have been too lazy to test gauge anyway. I knit the body of the hat in a stretchy 2 x 2 rib and made it 7″ long before the decreases for a turn-up brim. I followed the pattern for the green leafy decreases and I really love how it pops up!
This pattern was very easy but makes a really cute finished product. It would be easy to adapt for many sizes so I’ll keep that in mind for donating to The Preemie Project next year for Boo in the NICU.
