Crocheted Bacterial STD Plushies

March 19, 2020 by pinssneedles

By Day 2 of isolation, I was crocheting STDs.

To be clear, this is a project I have wanted to try for a while but it was just too silly to make the time for it. Now I will have nothing but time for at least the next month.

I was supposed to go back to work from maternity leave next week, March 23, but school has been canceled for at least four weeks. I’m grateful for this opportunity to stay home with Jasper even longer, but I’m not sure the anxiety of the situation is worth it. We’re making the best of things: Extra cuddles, and silly crochet projects.

I teach high school health and I just thought it would be funny to have STDs to pass around. So I made a few.

I put the pattern up for sale in my Teachers Pay Teachers store and it is up on Ravelry as well. I was so surprised that someone actually bought it! I would be just tickled if enough sold to cover the price of the yarn. Free STDs! Haha!

I hope you all are well and are finding the silver lining in our hard days ahead. I plan on checking in on my blog more often with my extra time. See you tomorrow!

When I first read it I thought STD was some kind of crochet jargon, but nope! It means exactly what I thought! I love that you’re making a subject that is uncomfortable for some into something fun!
