My side stripe granny square afghan (blogged here) went to live with my across-the-hall neighbor in August. His family welcomed a new baby in June.
The blanket was such a hit with their family that he asked if I had any to spare- maybe one that was big enough to cuddle more kids (this is baby #4!). I did- this one that I haven’t blogged before:
I started making a granny square sampler when I remembered how much I hate weaving in ends or having to refer to a pattern constantly. I stitched together the squares I had and crocheted a border to increase the size. I also added my favorite kind of border, just a single crochet alternating black and white.
I didn’t write down any more details so these photos are all the more I have to share.
The baby I had in mind when I made my pink and brown blackberry salad afghan (blogged here) was indeed a girl, and, better yet, her name is DOTTIE!
I have four coworkers expecting and one that had a baby at the beginning of the month, as well as a nephew and a niece/nephew* due in the next month. Hopefully people appreciate Target gift cards because my poor elbow just can’t keep up with this baby boom.
What is your go-to baby gift? Do you have any favorite pattern suggestions for something adorable, but a bit more doable?
*Does English have a word for nieces and nephews together like sobrinos? I’ve been just saying I’m expecting nephews because it’s easier to say- not because I really have a good guess.
